Our season continued last week with Minzaal finishing 3rd in the Group 2 Duke of York. I was happy enough with his run, it should hopefully bring him forward plenty and it's on to the Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot next. Meredif then finished 6th on Friday in her first handicap. I threw her in the deep end a bit as she was only just ready for a race so I was quite happy with how she ran. She wouldn't want the ground any quicker so now there's some rain about I'll look to get her out again shortly.
Stable favourite Muraad then went up the road to Newbury on Lockinge Day. He'd been kept to lead the good horses like Hukum & Minzaal work but as he wasn't needed for galloping that morning, we decided to let him have a day out!! I was thrilled with how brave he battled back and just got his nose in front on the line under a great ride from Jim who was completing a treble on the day! He's a real jack of all trades as he doubles up as a hack for my assistant Rob Mcdowall to ride as well as leading work & he's very happy having a pick of grass watching the rest of the horse's canter by! He's my daughters favourite as well so he's being properly spoilt at the moment with plenty of mints & carrots!!
We have no runners this week unfortunately but it will be good to get the horses back working on the grass as we've finally had some much needed rain over the last few days!
